The Bone Gap Cardinals 4-H Club has provided 50 local families with complete spaghetti dinners after receiving the Fall Food Advocacy Grant. Club member Aleya Bare applied for the grant on behalf of the group, resulting in a $1,000 award used to purchase ingredients for spaghetti along with salad items, vegetables, fruit, and dessert.

Since 2021, the Illinois 4-H Foundation has contributed $9,000 to support Edwards County 4-H clubs. These funds have helped supply community food pantries, the local backpack program, and other initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity.

Illinois 4-H continues its mission of empowering young people to be “Beyond Ready”—prepared for life, work, and leadership. For more information about joining 4-H, contact the Edwards County Extension office at 618-445-2934.
