If you were driving near the Mount Vernon Airport Monday night and noticed what looked like emergency activity, officials say there was no cause for concern.
The Mount Vernon Fire Department, Outland Airport staff, and the Jefferson County Fire Protection District conducted a simulated air crash emergency drill from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. as part of their ongoing training efforts.
Authorities emphasized that the incident was only a training exercise, and no real emergency occurred.
