FINAL WEEKLY USDA CROP REPORT SHOWS FIELDWORK CONTINUES, WINTER WHEAT NEAR AVERAGE

The final weekly crop report from the USDA was released yesterday, providing a snapshot of Illinois agricultural conditions for the week ending November 23rd.

According to the USDA, there were 4.2 days suitable for fieldwork during the week. The statewide average temperature reached 45.1 degrees, which is 4.9 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.81 inches, slightly above the normal by 0.11 inches.

Topsoil moisture levels were reported as 20% very short, 35% short, 42% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 27% very short, 35% short, 36% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Winter wheat emergence reached 87%, just below the five-year average of 88%. The condition of the winter wheat crop was rated 7% very poor, 7% poor, 30% fair, 45% good, and 11% excellent.

This marks the conclusion of the weekly Illinois Crop Progress and Condition reports for 2025. Monthly updates will be issued from December through March, with weekly reports set to resume in April.
