(Buffalo, NY) — The Bills are adding a proven playmaker to their offense. Buffalo is signing wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the active roster after he was waived by the New Orleans Saints over the weekend. Cooks cleared waivers Monday and was free to sign with any team following a request to be released by New Orleans. The 32-year-old had 19 receptions for 165 yards in 10 games with the Saints this season.

(Charlotte, NC) — The NFL is handing out a punishment to Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig [[ MAIR-ig ]] following Monday Night Football. The league is suspending Moehrig for one game without pay for striking San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings in the groin during the team’s loss on Monday night. ESPN reports that the 26-year-old is appealing the penalty. If the suspension is upheld, he will miss Carolina’s game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Jennings was not punished by the NFL.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Steelers will be shorthanded against the Bills this weekend. The team ruled out left tackle Broderick Jones and defensive tackle Derrick Harmon for Sunday’s tilt in Pittsburgh. Jones is dealing with a neck issue and Harmon has a knee injury. However, head coach Mike Tomlin said there’s “great optimism” that Aaron Rodgers will play after missing last weekend’s game against the Bears with a fractured wrist.

(Undated) — The Mavericks will be without a member of their front court for at least the next week. Dallas center Dereck Lively the Second will miss at least the next three games while being evaluated for swelling and discomfort in his surgically repaired right foot. Lively had surgery on the foot over the summer to clean out bone spurs and has missed time throughout his three-year NBA career due to various injuries. The timeline for his recovery would be provided in approximately seven to 10 days.

(Undated) — The latest College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday. The only change in the top 11 spots in the rankings are Oregon and Ole Miss swapping spots at sixth and seventh. Miami and Utah did the same further down, flipping between 12th and 13th. There will be one more rankings release ahead of selection Sunday on December 7, on which the 12-team field will be set.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The National League Cy Young winner is getting a huge payout. Paul Skenes received a record arbitration bonus pool of just over three-point-four-million dollars. The 23-year-old shattered the previous number held by Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. by about 400-thousand. MLB officials changed bonus pools to help increase the salaries of younger players. Skenes will become eligible for traditional salary arbitration after next season.

(Boston, MA) — The Red Sox are beefing up their rotation. The team acquired Sonny Gray from the Cardinals on Tuesday in exchange for Brandon Clarke and Richard Fitts. ESPN reports Boston is receiving 20-million dollars from St. Louis to help cover Gray’s salary. The three-time All-Star went 14-and-8 last season to go with an ERA that almost reached four-point-three. Clarke is a lefty prospect while Fitts made 10 starts as a rookie last year.

(Canton, OH) — The Pro Football Hall of Fame has revealed the semifinalist for the 2026 class of inductees. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees highlight the group of players being named semifinalists in their first year of eligibility. Others include San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore and Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten. Hold overs from previous years include New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. The list of 26 modern-era semifinalists will be reduced to a list 15 finalists next month.
