A Norris City woman has been charged with Felony Aggravated Domestic Battery after an incident Sunday night in the 400 block of East Boyd Street.
According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Andrea L. Ray allegedly pulled her mother’s hair, knocked her to the floor, and struck her in the face several times. Ray’s mother told officers the confrontation began after Ray discovered a bruise on her breast and blamed her for it. She stated she had not touched her daughter and noted that Ray had been increasingly irritable in recent days. Deputies had reportedly responded to the home several times due to Ray’s behavior.
When questioned by law enforcement, Ray first claimed she bruised herself while putting the dog in its kennel. Moments later, she said she fell on her left side in the hallway and insisted her mother did not cause the injuries. She then told officers she had nothing further to say.
A mental health evaluation was ordered for Ray. Her mother also requested an Emergency Order of Protection.
Ray was taken into custody and is currently lodged in the White County Jail. According to online court records, Ray made her initial appearance by video this past Monday in White County Court. She is scheduled for both a preliminary hearing and a status hearing on Monday, December 1st.
