Illinois State Police Troop 9 and the Fairfield Rural Fire Department responded shortly after 1 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning to a report of a semi striking a guardrail on I-64 eastbound at milepost 109.5, just west of the Mill Shoals exit.
The impact ruptured the truck’s diesel tank, causing a fuel spill along the roadway. No injuries were reported.
One eastbound lane was shut down while crews worked to contain and clean up the spill. All lanes have since reopened.
