Officials with the Edwards County Senior Citizens organization will meet tonight (Tuesday) to reconsider their decision to withdraw support from the Grayville Senior Center. The Edwards County board voted unanimously late last month to stop providing meals to the Grayville location, alleging the center had accumulated significant financial losses.
Grayville Senior Citizens officials strongly dispute the claim, stating their center has not incurred any losses. They have requested access to financial records to verify the allegations.
For now, Edwards County officials have agreed to continue providing meals to Grayville through Wednesday, December 3rd, while the matter is reviewed.
Meanwhile, community volunteer, Andi Ford has launched a fundraiser to help support the Grayville center’s meal program. As of Monday, December 1st, more than $8,000 had been raised. Ford is urging local businesses and residents to contribute to ensure seniors continue receiving meals during the dispute.
