State Representative Dave Severin has launched his annual Backpacks for Buddies and Stuff the Backpacks Holiday Donation Drive to support minors in emergency foster care and others needing basic supplies. Severin praised Southern Illinois residents for past support, noting that donated backpacks filled with essentials provide comfort for foster children during transitions. This year’s drive is in partnership with local child advocacy groups. Donate a new backpack (any color or theme). You may fill the backpack with supplies or donate items separately. Suggested donations include:
Full size pillows
Throw blankets
Toothbrushes & toothpaste
Mouthwash
Deodorant
Shampoo & conditioner
Body wash & bar soap
Feminine hygiene products
Coloring/activity books, crayons, markers
Any item that helps a child in crisis or an adult in need is welcome.
You can drop-off the donations at the following locations now through Tuesday, December 16th:
Mt. Vernon office: 2929 Broadway, Ste. 3
Benton office: 805 N. Main Street
