Several local communities and Southeastern Illinois College will soon see important upgrades, thanks to funding from the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) and the state of Illinois’ Economic Development Assistance Program. This year, a dozen projects across southern Illinois were selected to receive a share of more than $3.1 million in grants, aimed at enhancing public infrastructure, business development, and job training.

Southeastern Illinois College was awarded nearly $100,000 to upgrade equipment and software in its Nursing and Allied Health Simulation Laboratory. The new investments will bring the facility up to industry standards and better prepare students for workforce entry in critical health fields.

The Village of Mill Shoals will receive $509,000 to update its aging water system, boosting reliability for households while creating a stronger foundation to attract new businesses, expand local services, and improve community resilience.

Likewise, the Village of Crossville was awarded $509,000 to repair vital water main infrastructure. The improvements will ensure a reliable and efficient water system for residents and businesses in the eastern part of the village.

The DRA’s investments, made possible through collaboration with the state’s Economic Development Assistance Program, are focused on supporting basic public infrastructure, transportation, and economic growth throughout the region.
