SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital has been recognized by the American Heart Association as one of more than 80 hospitals in Illinois for its outstanding commitment to improving outcomes for patients experiencing heart disease and stroke. The honor comes as part of the Get With The Guidelines® initiative, a nationwide program involving over 4,800 hospitals dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
Heart disease and stroke remain the leading and fifth-leading causes of death in the United States, underscoring the importance of timely and effective treatment. The American Heart Association’s guidelines set the national standard for science-based patient care to ensure everyone has access to lifesaving treatment.
“Every 40 seconds, someone in America has a stroke or heart attack,” said Michele Bolles, senior vice president of quality, outcomes research, and analytics at the American Heart Association. “High-quality care should be accessible to all, and sites awarded through the Get With The Guidelines program help work toward our shared vision of health and hope for everyone, everywhere.”
SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital earned its recognition for consistently following the most up-to-date, research-based protocols to ensure patients receive the best possible care, which helps reduce complications, improve recovery, and save lives.
“At SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital, our team is committed to delivering the highest standard of care for every patient, every time,” said Mackenzie Castaneda, BSN, RN, Stroke & Chest Pain Coordinator at SSM Health in Southern Illinois. “Earning recognition from the American Heart Association reflects the dedication and expertise of our caregivers in following evidence-based guidelines for stroke and heart care.
