The Grayville City Council met Monday night, hearing updates and approving several projects across the city.

Police Chief Mason Siegel presented his November activity report, noting his department handled 170 calls for service, resulting in five investigations, four arrests, five citations, and six written warnings.
Council members also moved forward with upgrades to the city’s lift stations. After reviewing two bids, the council rejected a $12,000-per-station proposal and instead approved a quote from K&M Specialty Pumps to install beacons and alarm systems at ten lift stations for a total cost of $15,230.
In other business, the council approved improvements to the front entrance at City Hall. Felt’s Lock and Alarm will install a new door lock system for $2,405.24, while PC Doctors will provide additional equipment for $389.75. The upgrades will allow city employees to clock in and out from the building’s well-lit vestibule.

A request from The Smokin’ Pig to move Sunday liquor sales from noon to 10 a.m. prompted discussion among commissioners. Longtime city attorney Jay Walden advised the council to approach the issue carefully, noting the potential impact on the community.

The council ultimately directed Walden to draft an ordinance for consideration and agreed to allow public input at a future meeting before any vote is taken.
