Emergency responders were placed on standby Monday afternoon around 1:46 at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport after a pilot reported a warning light indicating a possible landing gear issue.
Mt. Vernon City Firefighters, Jefferson County Fire personnel, and Litton Ambulance crews responded after the alert was received. The pilot of the single-engine aircraft conducted a low-level flyover, during which it appeared that all landing wheels were properly deployed.
Emergency equipment remained staged at the airport as a precaution while the pilot proceeded with a normal landing. The aircraft landed safely without incident, and no injuries were reported.
