The Clay County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance Monday afternoon at approximately 4:53pm at a residence in Clay City. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a male subject who requested that his girlfriend be removed from the premises.

During the deputies’ efforts to deescalate the situation, the male began making threats toward both the deputies and his girlfriend. The situation escalated further when the male attempted to prevent law enforcement from continuing their investigation and tried to shut a door on the deputies. Deputies then took the male into custody and transported him to the Clay County Jail.

Following the incident, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Clay County State’s Attorney Phillip Givens, secured a search warrant for the residence. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered a firearm and ammunition.

36-year-old, Jackie O. Jackson of Clay City, was arrested on charges of Threatening a Public Official, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Firearm Without a FOID Card. Jackson is currently being held in the Clay County Jail in Louisville awaiting his first appearance in Clay County Circuit Court.
