Russel G. “Buck” Adams, 95, of Carmi

Russel G. “Buck” Adams, 95, of Carmi passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born on June 26, 1930 in Epworth the son of Luther B. and Rosa (Bates) Adams. Buck married Wilhelmina Usery on December 9, 1950 and they shared over 68 years of marriage until her passing on February 16, 2019. He worked for R.C. Cola in Carmi starting when he was 13 years old and worked for over 50 years. Buck was a member of a bowling association, Carmi American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Elks Lodge, and charter member of Carmi Country Club where he was an avid golfer and member of the “Over the Hill Gang”.  His hobbies were bowling, coaching little league, shuffleboard, talking to people, and a diehard Cubs fan since 1945.

Buck is survived by his children, Brenda (Roger) Hale of Fairfield, IL, Cynthia Rose Murphy of Breman, IN, and Russell Gene Adams of Gardner, KS; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Usery. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Francis Adama, siblings, William Adams, Luther “Sparky” Adams, Max Adams, Hubert “Shorty” Adams, Irene Moore, Rosalee Bloomer, Katherine Upton, Audria Silverman, and Evelyn Adams; brother-in-law, Bill Usery; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Doyle and Malen Daniel.

Funeral Services for Russel G. “Buck” Adams, 95, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Buck’s memory to the Carmi Compassion Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
