Billy Hicks, 95, of Olney, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Brookstone Estates.
Billy was born June 13, 1930 in Seminary, Illinois, the son of William and Lola Mae (Elkins) Hicks. He married Eva Greifzu on February 27, 1954 in Olney, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2024.
Billy was a devoted member of the Christian Church of Olney. He was also very proud of the time that he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved his family very much, and would do anything for anyone, including snow blowing everyone’s driveway in the neighborhood. He was very active, and had a deep love of motorcycles. He had many trophies from racing his days, and he made many friends along the way. He was well known for refurbishing bicycles and lawnmowers and selling them from his driveway. Billy was able to fix anything with a small engine, and could make anything out of nothing. Billy worked hard all of his life, and never had idle hands. He believed that if he stopped moving, he would be done. Billy loved his grandkids, they were gold in his eyes. The family of Billy Hicks will mourn his loss, as he was irreplaceable and will be missed dearly by his many friends and family.
Bill is survived by his son, Billy Joe Hicks of Berryville, IL; daughter, Brenda Bursch and husband John of Beaufort, SC; daughter, Kimberly Jones and husband Darnall of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren, Skyler (Amanda) Bursch, Sophia Bursch, Savannah Jones, and Ciara Jones; great grandchild, Madelyn Bursch.
