Emergency crews responded to a semi rollover crash Monday afternoon on Illinois Route 242 in Hamilton County.
The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. south of Aden Road and just north of Belle City Road. Wayne City Fire Chief Scott Clark said a semi hauling lime left the roadway, struck a ditch, and hit a Wayne-White County Electric Cooperative transmission pole before coming to rest on its side.
The driver was not injured in the crash but was trapped inside the cab and had to be extricated by emergency responders.
Agencies responding to the scene included the Wayne City Fire Department, McLeansboro Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Hamilton County Ambulance Service.
The incident caused traffic and power disruptions in the area while crews worked to remove the semi and secure the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
