The Wayne County Board held its January meeting on Thursday evening in the upstairs courtroom, with nine members present. Board members Eddie Barbre, TJ Vaughan, Matt Shreve, Quinton Greenwalt, and Steve Troyer were absent.
During the public comments segment, Jeff Vaughan provided an overview of current activities at the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission.
Chairman Hargrave appointed Carrie Halbert to the WADI Board of Directors.
The Highway Department presented two resolutions during office reports: one for appropriating funds for an overlay on Highway 13, and another for allocating $520,000 in motor fuel funds for street and highway maintenance. Both measures passed unanimously.
Sheriff Otey recognized Deputy Micah Hall as Deputy of the Year and Donovan Lee as Correctional Officer of the Year.
Coroner Shari Winter informed the board that the condensers and evaporating units for both morgue coolers had failed. The estimated cost for replacement with new units, including a four-year warranty, was $28,000. The board approved the repairs, with eight members voting in favor and Randy Hedrick voting ‘present.’
The Building and Grounds Committee presented an estimate of $29,500 for Phase II of the new heating and air conditioning system installation throughout the Courthouse. The board unanimously approved this estimate.
With no further committee business, Chairman Hargrave called for a brief executive session. After the session, the meeting resumed and was subsequently adjourned.
