On Monday night, the Fairfield Lady Mules Basketball team was on the road for a conference matchup at Hamilton County. In a game that was back-and-forth from beginning to end, the Lady Mules outlasted the Lady Foxes beating them by a score of 45-44. Fairfield was led in scoring by Mabrey Foster with 13 points. The Lady Mules JV squad also picked up a victory over the Lady Foxes by a score of 43-26. Bentli Belva was the leading scorer for the JV team with 13 points. The Lady Mules will be back in action again on Thursday versus conference rival Edwards County at the Mule Barn.

(Undated) — Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will be dealing with an injury heading into the NFC Divisional Round. The 37-year-old sustained the injury during the first half of the team’s win over the Carolina Panthers on Wild Card weekend. Stafford underwent X-rays on his finger Sunday that came back negative. The Rams will be without cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, who will miss the rest of the postseason after reinjuring his shoulder against Carolina.

He’s trying to determine which teams to meet with later this week before making a decision.

Head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed on Monday that cornerback Christian Gonzalez is in concussion protocol after being ruled out of the Pats’ Wild Card win over the Chargers. Gonzalez broke up a pass to Quentin Johnston during the fourth quarter, but Johnston landed on the helmet of Gonzalez at the end of the play. Vrabel is hopeful the Pro Bowler will be back in time for this Sunday’s game.

(Undated) — Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman is avoiding any charges after an incident. Freeman had been accused of battery following his son’s high school wrestling match earlier this month. According to the St. Joseph’s County Prosecutor’s Office, New Prairie High School assistant wrestling coach Chris Fleeger alleged Freeman gave him a “two-handed push” during the Al Smith Wrestling Invitational. The prosecutor’s office said in its statement that a review of video evidence does not support those assertions.

(Baton Rouge, LA) — Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers are expected to add one of the top players in the transfer portal. ESPN is reporting that LSU is expected to sign Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt [[ LEV-it ]]. The rising redshirt junior has chosen the Tigers after also taking visits to Miami, Tennessee and Kentucky. Leavitt has thrown for 4,652 yards, rushed for 816 yards and scored 46 total touchdowns in two seasons with the Sun Devils and one with Michigan State. LSU has secured commitments from 25 incoming transfers under Kiffin and his new staff.

(Eugene, OR) — Another former starting quarterback is making a decision on his future in college football. Nebraska transfer quarterback Dylan Raiola [[ rye-OH-la ]] will remain in the Big Ten after announcing his commitment to Oregon. The former five-star recruit has started 23 games over the past two seasons with the Cornhuskers. Current Ducks starter Dante Moore has not declared his decision on whether he will enter the NFL Draft or return to Eugene next season. Raiola is currently recovering from a broken right fibula that he suffered in a loss to USC on November 1st. He has thrown for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions in his two college seasons.

He credited the Spurs as a good defensive team, but called out the officials’ inconsistency and even said that he’ll accept being fined.

(Columbus, OH) — The Blue Jackets are done with their head coach. The team fired Dean Evason on Monday. Rick Bowness will take his place. Columbus is one of the worst teams in the NHL this season after just missing the playoffs last year. The 70-year-old Bowness comes out of retirement after initially walking away from the sport in 2024. He helped guide the Jets to the playoffs before the end of that season.

The contract averages more than two-million dollars per season. The 28-year-old is a strong penalty killer and has five goals and assists through 35 games this season. Pittsburgh has just one win in nine games when Lizotte was out of the lineup with an injury last month.
