With the General Primary Election set for March 17th, two local women, Billie-Jo Townsend and Janet Billington are seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for Wayne County Clerk. The position is currently held by Liz Ann Woodrow, who has announced she will not seek re-election and is retiring. Both Townsend and Billington bring experience from within the county clerk’s office to their campaigns.

A 2012 graduate of Fairfield Community High School, Townsend earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana in 2018. Before joining the county clerk’s office, she worked in restaurant management, including managing both west-side and east-side locations of McAlister’s Deli in Evansville.
Janet Billington, who lives in rural Cisne, has spent the past four years working in the county clerk’s office. Her prior work experience includes 30 years at Airtex Products, as well as internships and positions at The Village Florist, Consolidated Grain & Barge, Natural Resource Conservation Service in Fairfield, and Frey Produce in Keenes.
