U of I System Raising Tuition

(Champaign, IL) — Tuition is going up for incoming freshmen at University of Illinois System universities. The Board of Trustees approved a two-percent tuition increase for Illinois resident undergraduate students admitted to the fall 2026 academic year. The system universities in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield also adjusted tuition rates for nonresident undergraduate students, as well as graduate, professional and online programs. U of I System President Tim Killeen says the increase will allow them to balance the rising costs they face due to inflation.

Woman Jumps To Death On I-55 In Litchfield

(Litchfield, IL) — More information is being revealed about the woman found dead in the road on I-55 in Litchfield. Authorities say 56-year-old Bridgette Ingram of Gillespie jumped from the Illinois Route 16 overpass onto I-55 Wednesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police continue to investigate the incident.

US Rep Robin Kelly Files Articles Of Impeachment Against Noem

(Washington, DC) — Illinois Congresswoman Robin Kelly is seeking the impeachment of Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem over her immigration enforcement tactics. The Lynwood Democrat formally introduced articles of impeachment against Noem, accusing her of violating the U.S. Constitution and federal law. Kelly claims Noem also denied members of Congress “oversight of ICE detention facilities.” The impeachment articles also accuse the secretary of violating public trust and abusing her power for personal benefit.
