Woman Found Dead Inside Cairo Home

(Cairo, IL) — Illinois State Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a home in Cairo over the weekend. The ISP Crime Scene Investigations Unit was called to the home in the 33-hundred block of Elm Street Saturday morning. The victim was only identified as a 48-year-old woman and no other details have been released. The investigation is ongoing.

 

Suspect In Triple Homicide Found Dead From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

(Belleville, IL) — The suspect in a Belleville, Illinois triple homicide is dead. Investigators found three female victims dead after a shooting on Jamestown Road Saturday. The suspect was identified and spotted along I-55 in Missouri. There, local police attempted to conduct a traffic stop and before officers could make contact with the suspect, they found him dead from what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his vehicle. The investigation into the initial shooting and the three female suspects is still ongoing.

Statewide Poster & Video Contest For Students Announced

(SPRINGFIELD) The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security is teaming up with the American Lung Association to launch two statewide poster and video contests for students during the observation of Radon Action Month coming up in March. In an effort to encourage radon testing, high school students can submit commercial-style 30-second videos, while middle school students can enter a poster, with all contest submissions to be made by March 15th.
