ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT ON AGING SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR 2026 SENIOR ILLINOISANS HALL OF FAME

By Mark Wells Jan 22, 2026 | 5:54 AM

The Illinois Department on Aging is now accepting nominations for the 2026 class of the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame, which recognizes the achievements of Illinois residents aged 65 and older.

Each year, four older adults are honored for their exceptional contributions in one of four categories: arts, sports, and entertainment; community service; education; or the labor force. Anyone can nominate an eligible individual for consideration.

To qualify, nominees must be at least 65 years old at the time of nomination, and either a current Illinois resident or someone who lived in Illinois for most of their life. Posthumous nominations are also welcome, as long as the nominee was 65 or older and living in Illinois at the time of their passing.

Nominations for the 2026 class must be received by June 2nd, to ensure consideration. Those who nominate successful candidates will be expected to participate in an award ceremony honoring the new inductees.

Nomination forms can be submitted electronically, by mail, fax, or email. For more details or to submit a nomination, visit the Illinois Department on Aging website. Information about previous Hall of Fame inductees is also available online.
