WAYNE COUNTY CLERK WARNS VOTERS: MAIL-IN BALLOTS NO LONGER PRIORITY MAIL

By Mark Wells Jan 22, 2026 | 11:57 AM

Wayne County Clerk and Recorder Liz Ann Woodrow is advising voters that the United States Postal Service is no longer handling mail-in ballots as Priority Mail. Woodrow warns that if voters mail their ballots on Election Day, they will not be processed or postmarked until the following day and will not be counted.

Voters who choose to vote by mail are urged to return their ballots as soon as they receive them. Ballots can also be dropped in the ballot drop box located in front of the security door at the courthouse or brought directly to the County Clerk’s office.

Woodrow emphasizes that the Postal Service is not giving Vote By Mail ballots priority status this year. Ballots will be mailed out to voters on February 5th.
