The Chicago Blackhawks aim to avoid a fourth loss in a row when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena tonight. (Champaign, IL) — The number-nine Illinois Fighting Illini go for their tenth win in a row when they host Washington at State Farm Center tonight. The Illini are coming off an 88-82 win over number-12 Purdue on the road on Saturday. Illinois is 8-and-1 in Big Ten play and 17-and-3 overall. Tonight’s game tips off at 8:00pm and can be heard on WFIW-AM 1390 and FM 103.3 on the Illini Sports Radio Network. Pregame activities get underway at 7pm.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Chicago Bears are honoring their second-year quarterback. The team named Caleb Williams as the Bears’ Offensive Player of the Year yesterday. Williams led the Bears to their first playoff win in 15 years in 2025. He finished the season with 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Cleveland Browns are hiring Todd Monken as their next head coach. The team officially announced that the former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator will replace Kevin Stefanski, who was fired following the 2025 season. This will be the first time that Monken will serve as a head coach in the NFL. Monken previously served as the Browns’ offensive coordinator in 2019.

>>Broncos’ Nix Says He Will Return In 4-6 Weeks

(Englewood, CO) — Broncos quarterback Bo Nix believes he will not be away from the field for long. The Denver signal caller said that he will be diving into recovery following surgery for his fractured right ankle that will have him ready to be back on the field in time for the team’s offseason program. Nix said that his doctor told him his recovery would be four-to-six weeks and then he could start training again. The 25-year-old was injured in overtime of the team’s win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional Round. The injury is not expected to impact him moving forward.

>>Jets Hire Brian Duker As Defensive Coordinator

(Florham Park, NJ) — The Jets have a new defensive coordinator after hiring Brian Duker. Defensive plays will likely still be called by head coach Aaron Glenn, because the former Miami Dolphins passing game coordinator does not have any experience doing so. Duker wasn’t one of the original candidates, but he is familiar with Glenn. He worked his way up from defensive assistant to safeties coach to defensive backs coach with the Detroit Lions from 2021 to 2023.

>>Former QB Eli Manning Misses Hall Of Fame Vote Again

(Canton, OH) — Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning has missed being voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a second consecutive year. The Athletic reports Manning was among 15 modern-era finalists but did not receive the required 80-percent vote for induction. Manning played his entire 16-year career with the New York Giants, winning two Super Bowl MVPs and earning four Pro Bowl selections. He is one of four Hall of Fame-eligible players with multiple Super Bowl MVPs who have not been inducted as first-ballot Hall of Famers.

(Milwaukee, WI) — A former NBA champion and two-time league MVP is on the verge of leaving his current team. ESPN reports Giannis Antetokounmpo [[ YAHN-iss ah-dedo-KOON-bo ]] is “ready” for a new home ahead of the February 5th trade deadline. The Bucks are “more open than ever” to trading their superstar, but could wait until the summer to execute a deal. The Heat, Timberwolves, Knicks and Warriors are all interested.

>>Rockets’ Adams Undergoes Season-Ending Surgery

(Undated) — The Rockets will be without a member of their frontcourt for the rest of the season. Houston center Steven Adams underwent season-ending surgery on his left ankle Wednesday. The 32-year-old suffered the injury in the team’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans on January 18th. Adams wraps up the season averaging 5.8 points and 8.6 rebounds through 32 games played. Clint Capela has taken over his role as the primary backup behind Alperen Sengun [[ al-pah-ron shen-goon ]].

>>Rockies Make Trades With Yankees, Twins

(Undated) — The Rockies have swung a pair of trades with American League teams. Colorado sent right-handed reliever Angel Chivilli [[ ahn-HEHL chee-vee-yee ]] to the New York Yankees in exchange for minor league infielder T.J. Rumfield. Chivilli has gone 3-and-8 with a 6.18 ERA in 73 appearances with Colorado over the past two seasons. Rumfield has played in the minors in the Philadelphia Phillies’ and Yankees’ organizations since 2021. The Rockies also sent minor league pitcher Jace Kaminska to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for infielder Edouard Julien [[ ED-ward JOO-lee-EN ]] and reliever Pierson Ohl.

(La Jolla, CA) — Harris English is hoping to capture another victory when the Farmers Insurance Open tees off from Torrey Pines. English won last year’s tournament after finishing atop the leaderboard at eight under par. The 36-year-old will be alongside Xander Schauffele and JJ Spaun for the first and second rounds. Chad Ramey, Denny McCarthy and Michael Thorbjornsen will be among the first group of players teeing off round one.

Second-seeded Jannik Sinner beat eighth-seeded American Ben Shelton in straight sets to increase his winning streak to 19 at Melbourne Park. The two-time defending tournament champion will now take on fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic for a spot in the Final against either top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz or third-seeded Alexander Zverev. On the women’s side, two-time Australian Open champ and top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka will battle 12th-seeded Elina Svitolina in her semifinal match early Thursday morning. The winner of that match will take on either fifth-seeded Elena Rybakina or sixth-seeded American Jessica Pegula in the Final.
