The Fairfield Rural Fire Department, responding at the request of White County, was called to a structure fire Wednesday afternoon at the Haley Stocke residence on County Road 1900 N., just off Route 45 south of Springerton. The fire was reported around 1 o’clock, with Fairfield Rural firefighters getting called to the scene shortly before 2 p.m.
Fire crews from Enfield and Norris City joined the effort, battling the blaze for several hours before bringing the fire under control and extinguishing remaining hot spots. Firefighters faced significant challenges reaching the home due to its location up a long, narrow, snow-covered lane. Additionally, a metal roof made firefighting efforts more difficult.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
