CERTIFIED LIVESTOCK MANAGER TRAINING WORKSHOP SET FOR FEBRUARY IN EFFINGHAM

By Mark Wells Jan 30, 2026 | 11:55 AM

Farm operators and staff looking to strengthen their livestock operations can get certified this February at the Certified Livestock Manager Training, or CLMT, workshop in Effingham. Hosted by the University of Illinois Extension and the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the training will be held Tuesday, February 3rd, at the University of Illinois Extension Office on North Wenthe Avenue.

Certification is crucial for many Illinois livestock facilities, especially depending on the operation’s size. Certified individuals help minimize environmental impacts through greater awareness of regulations and proper manure nutrient management. The training covers a wide range of topics, including operation, management, and utilization of livestock waste.

The workshop opens at 8:30 a.m. with training beginning at 9 a.m. and will last three and a half hours. Following the session, IDOA staff will administer the certification exam. The training fee is $40, with an additional $30 certification fee. Pre-registration is required, as class sizes are limited.

For those unable to attend in person, online training and testing are available year-round. Details, requirements, and the training manual can be found online at go.illinois.edu/CLMT.
