Thomas Allen Orrel, 84, of Albion, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at his home in Albion, Illinois.
Tom was born on October 12, 1941 in West Salem, Illinois, the son of Frank J. and Carrie (Liddle) Orrel. Tom was a Navy Veteran. He was also a former New York City Police Officer. After that time, he was located in Arizona, where he had a career as a food inspector for the United States Government for over 35 years. He was a member of Albion Moose Lodge #621. He loved to fish, and he loved eating out. He loved spending time with family.
Tom is survived by his life partner, Judy, they were high school sweethearts who have been together for the past 17 years; step-children, Angela (Jim) Evans, Crystal (Greg) Winter, Terri (Rick) Conner; a son-in-law Jeff Crawford; 9 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild with 1 on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a step-daughter, Dorri Crawford; two brothers and four sisters.
Visitation for Thomas Orrel will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Illinois. Casual dress is requested.
