The Lady Mules Basketball team traveled to Mt. Carmel Thursday night for a rare JV-only matchup. The Lady Mules picked up a 41-17 victory over the Lady Aces. Bentli Belva led the team in scoring with 17 points. The Lady Mules Varsity squad will open postseason play on Monday at the Mt. Carmel Regional versus Salem.

(Champaign, IL) — The number-seven Illinois Fighting Illini aim to avoid a third loss in a row when they host Indiana at State Farm Center on Sunday. The Illini are coming off a 92-90 overtime loss against Wisconsin at home on Tuesday. Illinois is 11-and-3 in Big Ten play and 20-and-5 overall. Sunday’s game tips off at 12 noon and can be heard on WFIW-AM 1390 and FM 103.3 on the Illini Sports Radio Network. Pregame coverage starts at 11am.

(Inglewood, CA) — NBA All-Star Weekend tips off at the Intuit Dome on Friday. The day will be highlighted by the Rising Stars tournament that features four teams comprised of rookies, second-year players and G League standouts coached by former NBA players Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter Tracy McGrady, and Austin Rivers. The celebrity game will also be played with current NBA governors Mat Ishbia of the Phoenix Suns and Rick Schnall of the Charlotte Hornets set to participate. All-Star Saturday will comprise of the three-point contest, slam dunk contest, and shooting stars event. The All-Star Game this season is a three-team round-robin tournament that features a Team USA versus The World format. That All-Star Game will take place Sunday.

(Inglewood, CA) — Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will not suit up this weekend for the All-Star game in LA. The two-time MVP has been out since January 23 due to a right calf strain. He will still coach the All-Star Celebrity Game on Saturday alongside his brothers Thanasis and Alex. He has been replaced on the roster by San Antonio Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox.

(Foxboro, MA) — The Patriots need a new defensive coordinator. ESPN reports the team is moving Terrell Williams to a high-ranking role on head coach Mike Vrabel’s staff. He was supposed to be the DC in New England this past season, but a prostate cancer diagnosis forced him away from team. Zak Kuhr [[ COOR ]] served as the interim coordinator and is “a leading candidate” for the role.

(Henderson, NV) — The Raiders are expected to add a former head coach to the staff. NFL Network is reporting that Las Vegas is planning to hire Mike McCoy as the assistant head coach under Klint Kubiak. McCoy most recently served as the interim head coach for the Tennessee Titans last season after beginning the year as an offensive assistant. The Raiders are also reportedly set to interview Seahawks wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson for their offensive coordinator role.

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Jazz are reportedly losing their big trade deadline acquisition for the season. Utah forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will undergo surgery to remove a PVNS growth in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season. The growth was discovered during an MRI in his physical following his trade to Utah.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Phillies are moving on from a troubled outfielder. Philly released Nick Castellanos [[ kah-stay-AHN-ohs ]] on Thursday. No team was interested in trading for the 33-year old. He said the relationship between himself and the organization deteriorated last season after manager Rob Thomson benched him for an “inappropriate comment” and admitted to bringing a beer into the dugout during a game.

>>U.S. Tied For Second In Medal Count Standings

(Milan) — Team USA added two more medals at the Winter Olympics on Thursday. American Jessie Diggins earned the bronze in the women’s 10 kilometer cross-country race, her fourth career Olympic medal. Meanwhile, Chloe Kim was denied a third straight gold but still won the silver medal in the women’s snowboard halfpipe. That gives the U.S. 14 total medals, which ties them with Norway for second in the overall standings. Italy leads all countries with 17 total medals.

(Milan) — The U.S. men’s hockey team cruised to a big win to open up their Winter Olympics run in Milan. Brock Nelson scored twice during a three-goal second period as Team USA crushed Latvia 5-1 in their preliminary round opener. Brady Tkachuk, Tage Thompson and captain Auston Matthews also lit the lamp for the Americans, who are seeking their first Olympic medal since winning silver in Vancouver in 2010. The U.S. will take on Denmark in their next game on Saturday.

(Daytona Beach, FL) — The Daytona 500 field is set. Joey Logano and Chase Elliott earned wins in the Duels on Thursday. Logano won under caution in the first qualifying heat while Elliott edged Carson Hocevar by a nose in the second duel. Those drivers will sit side-by-side in row two while Kyle Busch and Chase Briscoe occupy the front row heading into the Great American Race on Sunday.

(Pebble Beach, CA) — The first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is in the books. Ryo Hisatsune leads the field after shooting a 10-under 62 on Thursday. Sam Burns and Keegan Bradley are tied for second at 9-under par, while Tony Finau, Chris Gotterup and Patrick Rodgers are tied for fourth at 8-under. Last year’s winner Rory McIlroy is tied for 28th at 4-under.
