Xon R. Johnston, 85, of Fairfield

Xon R. Johnston, 85, of Fairfield, passed away at 9:35am on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Fairfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation.

Xon was born on March 27, 1940, in Kinmundy, IL, to Arthur and Lola May (Tipsword) Johnston. On December 23, 1962, he married the love of his life, Naomi Ruth (Tyree) Johnston, who preceded in him in death in 2002. Xon had been a truck driver for Harold Ray Truck and Tractor Service in Cisne, IL, retiring after 17 years of service.

Survivors include his five children Kevin (Linda) Johnston, Chris Johnston, Jerry (Heidi) Johnston, and Denise (Richard) Perkins all of Fairfield, and Jay (Tracy) Johnston of Bluford, twenty grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, with one on the way, his sister Louise Dippold of Decatur, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Naomi Ruth Johnston, three brothers Eugene Johnston, Loren Johnston, Oren Johnston, and two sisters Virginia Jett, and Evelyn Sanders.

Funeral services for Xon Johnston will be at 10am on Saturday, February 21st, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow in Richland Cemetery in Boyleston, IL. Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Friday, February 20th, at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Johnston family and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
