DENSE FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 A.M.; WARMING TREND AND STORMS ON THE WAY

The National Weather Service says a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for the area until 9 a.m. this morning, as visibility has dropped to one quarter mile or less in many locations. Authorities are warning that the low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Adding to the danger, temperatures are expected to fall below freezing in some isolated spots early this morning. This could lead to slippery conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Motorists are strongly advised to slow down, use their headlights, and maintain plenty of distance between vehicles. Drivers should also be alert for icy patches, especially on elevated surfaces.

Officials recommend delaying travel if possible until after the advisory expires. If you must be on the road, proceed with extra caution and stay safe.

Looking ahead, a significant warming trend will continue Monday through Thursday, bringing much warmer than normal temperatures. Highs are expected to climb 15 to 25 degrees above average, reaching the low to mid-70s by Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight lows will also be milder, generally in the 50s. This extended stretch of unseasonably warm weather could challenge some long-standing temperature records for this time of year.

The next chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives Thursday and will linger into Friday. Some of these storms could be strong, particularly during Thursday afternoon and evening hours. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about changing weather conditions throughout the week.
