The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is urging consumers to be aware of a recall involving Rosabella brand moringa powder capsules after the product was linked to a multi-state outbreak of a drug-resistant form of salmonella. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported seven salmonella cases across seven states, including one case in Illinois.
The CDC has traced the outbreak to specific lots of Rosabella moringa powder capsules distributed by Ambrosia Brands LLC. The recalled product was sold in white plastic bottles with green labels, covering 52 lot codes with expiration dates in 2027. Lot codes can be found on the bottom of each bottle. The capsules were distributed nationwide, primarily through online outlets including the company’s website (tryrosabella.com), Amazon, TikTok Shop, Shein, and eBay. A full list of affected lot codes is available on the FDA’s website.
Consumers are advised to take the following steps:
Do not consume any of the recalled product.
If you have the affected capsules, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
Wash any surfaces or utensils that may have come into contact with the product using hot, soapy water.
Be alert for symptoms such as fever, dehydration, bloody or persistent diarrhea, or vomiting.
Contact your healthcare provider if you have consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms.
