On Thursday night, the Fairfield Lady Mules looked to get past the Mt. Carmel Lady Aces in the Regional Championship game at Mt. Carmel. Despite battling hard all game against the Lady Aces, who finished 3rd at State last year, the Lady Mules were unable to pull out the victory, falling to the Lady Aces 46-23. Fairfield was led in scoring by Mabrey Foster and Kiersten Vaughan, each with 5 points. The Lady Mules finish the season with a record of 20-11.

The Chicago Bulls are on a seven-game losing streak following a 110-101 loss to the Toronto Raptors at United Center. The Bulls were within two with under two minutes left in regulation before surrendering a 7-0 run to end the game. Anfernee Simons led Chicago with 20 points in the losing effort. The Bulls are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference at 24-and-32. They host the Pistons tomorrow night.
Washington Wizards 112, Indiana Pacers 105
The Indiana Pacers returned from the All-Star break with a 112-105 loss to the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena. The Pacers trailed by as many as 17 points in the losing effort. Jarace Walker scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the losing effort. Indiana dropped to last place in the Eastern Conference at 15-and-41. Indiana takes on Washington again tonight.

(Lake Forest, IL) — A potential move of the Chicago Bears to Indiana took another big step. An Indiana House committee voted 24-0 to create an agency that would build a new stadium for the NFL team. The stadium would be located in northwest Indiana, 19 miles from downtown Chicago, and the bill would create the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority to enable state involvement in the project. The Bears released a statement saying that if the bill passes it would be a big step towards a new stadium. Meanwhile, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker says his administration is making progress to keep the Bears in the state with a new stadium in Arlington Heights.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Indianapolis Colts need a new defensive quality control coach. Brent Jackson was hired away by the Arizona Cardinals yesterday. He’ll be the defensive backs coach for Arizona. Jackson spent the last four years with the Colts after spending time at both Oregon and Auburn.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Eagles are bringing back a stalwart on their offensive line. Lane Johnson announced on Thursday that he’s returning for a 14th season. The right tackle missed Philly’s playoff loss to the 49ers this past season with a foot injury. The 35-year-old was also sidelined for seven regular season games with the ailment. Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler and was taken fourth-overall in the 2013 draft.

(San Francisco, CA) — The Warriors will be without superstar Stephen Curry for at least their next handful of games. ESPN is reporting that the Golden State point guard will be re-evaluated in 10 days due to his persistent right knee injury. Curry has been sidelined since January 30th and will miss at least five more games. The 37-year-old had another MRI this week that came back clean, but continuous pain and swelling have not allowed him to return to the court. Curry is averaging 27.2 points through 39 games played this season.

ESPN is reporting that NBA commissioner Adam Silver has informed the league’s 30 general managers that the league plans to make anti-tanking rule changes for next season. The potential concepts that have been discussed are that first-round draft picks can be protected only for top-four or top-14-plus selections, lottery odds that freeze at the trade deadline, no longer allowing a team to pick in the top four in consecutive years and lottery odds being allocated based on two-year records.

(Athens, GA) — A tradition as old as time remains alive and well in the Peachtree State. ESPN reports Georgia linebackers Chris Cole and Darren Ikinnagbon were arrested Wednesday night for speeding at maximum limits and other traffic-related charges. Cole had almost 60 tackles in 13 games last season while Ikinnagbon appeared in five games. UGA has a long history of players involved in speeding and other traffic incidents.

(Milan) — The 2026 Winter Games from Milan continue to be rewarding for the United States. The U.S. women’s hockey team rallied to beat Canada 2-1 in overtime to capture the gold medal. Figure skater Alysa Liu then became the first American to win gold in the women’s individual event since 2002. The 20-year-old was third following the short program, but posted the best free skate score to edge out two skaters from Japan. Elsewhere, American speed skater Jordan Stolz won his third medal of the Olympics after securing the silver in the men’s 1500 meter competition. The 21-year-old previously won gold in the men’s 500 meter and 1000 meter events. Elsewhere, the US women’s curling team booked its spot in the medal round after holding off Switzerland in their final game of the round robin. Team USA takes on Switzerland in the semifinals on Friday.

(Milan) — Team USA is now second in the overall medal standings following Thursday’s action at the Winter Olympics.
