A voluntary recall of cottage cheese is being issued by Saputo Cheese USA Inc.
Published reports say the company is voluntarily recalling certain Great Value cottage cheese products sold at Wal Mart. Three Great Value cottage cheese products are affected by the recall and were distributed to Wal Mart stores in 24 states, including Illinois. The FDA says liquid dairy ingredients in the affected products may not have met state regulatory pasteurization requirements and consuming unpasteurized dairy can cause serious health risks.
The report says anyone who purchased the recalled products should throw them away or return them to their nearest Wal Mart for a refund.
