FAIRFIELD AND CISNE FFA CHAPTERS EXCEL AT DISTRICT PROFICIENCY AWARDS, ADVANCE TO STATE COMPETITION

It was a night of achievement for local FFA chapters as Fairfield and Cisne students shined at the District Proficiency Awards, held Wednesday at Mt. Vernon Township High School.

The Fairfield FFA Chapter celebrated multiple victories. Ryan Vaughan (Service Learning), Will Lewis (Environmental Services), and Wren Braddock (Outdoor Recreation) each took first place in their categories and will advance to State FFA Awards Day. Second place honors went to Landon Smith (Ag Mech Entrepreneur), Addy King (Wildlife), Jaxon Basnett (Ag Sales), and Jude Carter (Ag Mechanics). Third place finishes were earned by William French (Equine), Harv Keyser (Diversified Agriculture), Layne Weber (Mechanics), Grant Wiles (Fruit), Kacie Kinsolving (Small Animal), and Brychen Kovacich (Equine).

 

 

The Cisne FFA Chapter also had a strong showing, with eleven members submitting Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), commonly known as record books. First place winners from Cisne include Katlyn Young (Ag Services), Esme Krupp (AgriScience Research Plant Systems), and Addisyn Hutchcraft (Sheep Production). These students will also move on to the state competition.

Cisne’s second-place honorees were Shane Locey (AgriScience Research Animal Systems), Ashtyn Smith (AgriScience Research Integrated Systems), Allison Shannon (Diversified Livestock Production), Claire Cannon (Food Service Placement), Kenzie Alvis (Swine Production Entrepreneurship), and Ava Greifzu (Vegetable Production). Additional chapter participants included Lane Allen (Beef Production Entrepreneurship) and Rebecca King (Grain Production).

All first-place winners from both chapters will represent their schools at the State Proficiency Awards Day on Saturday, March 21st at Mt. Zion High School near Decatur.
