Emergency crews from the Fairfield Rural Fire Department, Cisne Fire Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, and Wayne County Ambulance responded to two separate water rescues late Thursday night after vehicles became stranded in flood waters north of Mt. Erie.

Officials say the incidents occurred just before 11:30 PM along County Highway 3, near County Road 2300N. A male driver in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and another male driver standing atop a Cadillac passenger vehicle were both found stranded after attempting to drive through flooded roadways.

Both drivers had entered high water and became trapped. Rescue teams quickly responded to the scene and successfully brought both individuals to safety. No injuries were reported.

Authorities are reminding motorists to avoid driving through flood waters and to heed all road closure signs, as conditions can change rapidly and pose serious risks.
