Wayne County Board to Hold Regular Meeting Next Thursday; Fire District Appointment and Highway Improvements on Agenda

The Wayne County Board will meet for its regular monthly meeting next Thursday, March 12th at 7:00 PM in the upstairs courtroom of the Wayne County Courthouse. The meeting will open with prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and roll call, followed by approval of the February meeting minutes. During the public comment period, the board will welcome Janice Crow of Region 20 Birth to Five, who is expected to speak about ongoing early childhood initiatives in the area. Jim Rush will recommend the appointment of Randy Ellis to a three-year term as Trustee for the Fairfield Rural Fire Protection District.

The Highway Department will present Amendment #1 for Preliminary Engineering of County Highway 1 Safety Improvement on the north side at County Highway 2 (Section #19-00127-01-SP). The board is also set to review a Joint Funding Agreement for a federally funded construction project involving an overlay on County Highway 13 (Section 25-00131-00-RS). Reports from the State’s Attorney, Circuit Clerk, Sheriff, County Clerk, Treasurer, Supervisor of Assessments, Coroner, and Health Department will be presented. The County Clerk will also bring forward Resolution 2026-03-12, which aims to set the bond for the County Clerk position.

No new business is expected on the agenda. The meeting will include committee reports on finance, law enforcement, emergency management, animal control, road and bridge issues, insurance and education, buildings and grounds, economic development, rules and policy, and liquor licensing.

The meeting will conclude with additional items as needed before adjournment.
