92 year old Fairfield resident, Gayle Gwaltney passed away at the Skilled Care Unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Gayle was born on October 14, 1933 to Fred and Katherine (Appel) Redman. Gayle married Paul V. Gwaltney on December 22, 1951 at Carmi, Illinois. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing on May 10, 2008. Gayle retired from the Dietary Department of Fairfield Memorial Hospital in 1999 after 34 years.
Gayle is survived by several nieces and nephews along with several great nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister – Margaret.
Funeral services for Gayle Gwaltney will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday morning, 10:00 a.m. to service time at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.
