Local organizations are coming together this summer to ensure no child goes hungry with the “Feeding Kids of Wayne County” program. Beginning May 25th and running through August 7th, free sack lunches and groceries will be available to children ages 2-18 across the county.
Sack lunches will be distributed Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the following locations in Fairfield:
Manor of the Woodlands on Manor Circle, Lakeside Park (west side shelter) on NW 7th Street, and Jesus Name Pentecostal Church at 1112 SW 6th Street.
In Wayne City, a sack of groceries will also be available every Monday from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Wayne City Park (City Park) and at the Cisne Park and Cisne Square in Cisne. Additionally, in Geff, a sack of groceries can be picked up at Geff Grade School (west side) at 204 Lafayette Street.
Organizers encourage families to take advantage of this free program to help keep kids nourished and healthy throughout the summer. For more information, contact Mindy Otey at 618-599-6864.
