North Wayne Community Unit School District #200 student Myla Hearle has achieved an impressive accomplishment, earning 2nd place in the Region 6 Spelling Bee held at Rend Lake College Theatre in Ina on Thursday, March 12th. Sonny Bell, an 8th grade student from West Salem Grade School had also advanced to the Region 6 Spelling Bee.
The Area 6 Southern Illinois Classic Spelling Bee brought together the top young spellers from across the region, with a total of 18 students advancing to this level after excelling in school, county, and quad-county competitions. To reach the regional bee, students had to place in the top four of their respective Regional Office of Education multi-county bees.
