Moises Ballesteros went yard twice, while Carson Kelly also homered in the victory. Shota Imanaga struck out eight and allowed just one run on one hit in four-and-two-thirds innings. The Northsiders improved to 11-and-13 in Cactus League action. They send Edward Cabrera to the mound against the Diamondbacks today.

The Chicago Blackhawks picked up a point during a 4-3 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild at United Center. Frank Nazar scored the game-tying goal with under two minutes left in regulation before Chicago allowed the game-winner in the fourth minute of OT. Ryan Greene and Louis Crevier also lit the lamp in the losing effort. The Blackhawks are in last place in the Central Division with 62 points. Chicago visits Minnesota tomorrow night.

(Dayton, OH) — The First Four of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament is underway. Howard edged UMBC 86-83 to claim the 16th-seed in the Midwest Region and will play Number-1 Michigan in the First Round. Texas squeaked by NC State 68-66 to earn the 11th-seed in the West and will face sixth-seeded BYU. The First Four wraps up tonight when Prairie View A-and-M and Lehigh square off in a battle for the 16th-seed in the South Region. The winner will face Number-1 Florida. Miami of Ohio tips off against SMU in the last game. The victor will secure the 11th-seed in the Midwest and play sixth-seeded Tennessee in the First Round.

(Miami, FL) — Venezuela is celebrating its first-ever World Baseball Classic title. The team edged America 3-2 in the final from Miami. Eugenio Suarez [[ AY-you-hay-nee-oh ]] drove-in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the ninth inning. Garrett Whitlock got the loss for the Stars and Stripes after giving up the run. Bryce Harper tied the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning as Team USA was trying to earn its second Classic victory.

(Glendale, AZ) — Mike Vasil’s season is coming to an early end. The White Sox starting pitcher will have season-ending Tommy John surgery this week. Vasil was dealing with elbow soreness during Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 25-year-old was 5-and-3 with a 2.50 ERA and four saves in 47 games last season. In other team news, the Southsiders beat the A’s 6-4 in a Spring Training game yesterday.

(Tuscaloosa, AL) — More details have emerged regarding the arrest of Alabama men’s basketball player Aden Holloway. According to ESPN, authorities found 2.1 pounds of marijuana in Holloway’s apartment when he was arrested on a felony drug possession charge. In the state of Alabama, any amount of marijuana above 2.2 pounds, or one kilogram, can result in a drug trafficking charge. The Crimson Tide are slated to play without Holloway when they take on Hofstra in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

(Undated) — The Broncos are adding a standout receiver to the roster. ESPN reports the Denver Broncos are acquiring wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and a 2026 fourth-round pick from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for 2026 first-, third- and fourth-round picks. The 27-year-old is scheduled to undergo a physical with the Broncos on Wednesday. Waddle finished last season with 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Eagles are bringing in some wide receiver depth. ESPN reports the team signed Hollywood Brown on Tuesday to a one-year deal worth up to six-and-a-half million dollars. The 28-year-old caught almost 50 balls for nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns with the Chiefs last season. Brown replaces Jahan Dotson, who left for the Falcons in free agency. He would also provide insurance behind AJ Brown if Philly decides to trade the three-time Pro Bowler.

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are beefing up their offensive line with a three-time Pro Bowler. NFL Network reports that Houston is signing guard Wyatt Teller to a two-year deal that is worth 16-million-dollars and has a maximum value of 23-million-dollars. The 31-year-old has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with the Cleveland Browns and made 94 starts. He was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2018 draft.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Colts made a couple more additions on Tuesday. Indy signed former Notre Dame basketball player Carson Towt as a free agent to play tight end, and also agreed to a deal with veteran cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt. Towt has never played football at any level, but did lead the Fighting Irish in rebounding this past season. Taylor-Britt has seven interceptions and 38 passes defensed over his four-year career.
