The McLeansboro City Council met Monday night and during the routine session, the council approved the continuation of their agreement with PEFA Inc. to supply natural gas to the city.
An ordinance amending Chapter 21 of the Class E-2 Liquor License was also approved, increasing the number of allowed licenses from one to five.
Sheffield Boyle CPA was selected to continue conducting the city audit, as they were the sole bidder for the position.
In pool-related business, the council decided to hire three additional staff members, bringing the total to eight. Applications for pool positions are due one week before the next board meeting on April 21st. Wages will remain unchanged from last year, and the city pool is set to open on May 28th.
The council held a first reading of the Fiscal Year 2027 Appropriations Ordinance, with further discussion and action planned for next month’s meeting.
No action was taken regarding the addition of more parking around the square, as no motion was made.
The council also approved the hiring of two additional city workers.
The Consent Agenda passed, including a Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Amendment and an Ordinance on Fiscal Year 2026 Appropriations Amendment, which will reallocate funds to meet budget needs.
The meeting moved into Executive Session to discuss employment matters, collective negotiations with public employees, and review of minutes closed under the Open Meetings Act. No action was taken during the session.
