Fairfield was led by Alivia Rice who went 3-3 with 2 Doubles; Serenity Dagg who went 1-3 with a Triple and 2 RBI’s; and Kaylee Musgrave who went 1-4 with a Double. Alivia Rice took the loss for the Mules, going 7 innings, giving up 6 runs on 11 hits with 7 strikeouts. The Lady Mules will next be in action Saturday at the FCHS Spring Swing Tournament.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS TENNIS:
On Tuesday, the Mules Boys Tennis team was in action at the Lakeside Courts against Casey-Westfield and came up short, losing 8-1. The Mules Tomas Cidoncha picked up Fairfield lone win on the day in Singles competition.
On Wednesday, the Mules were once again at home, this time versus Carterville. The Mules fell to the Lions 6-3. Fairfield picked up Singles wins from Aiden King, Kale Gregory, and Tomas Cidoncha.
On Thursday, Fairfield completed it’s 3-day homestand with a match against Mt. Carmel. The Mules came up short against the Golden Aces with a score of 6-1. Tomas Cidoncha picked up the Mules lone Singles win.

The Chicago Bulls look to get back in the win column when they visit the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center tonight. The Bulls are coming off a 157-137 loss to the 76ers on the road on Wednesday. Chicago will be without Jaden Ivey and Jalen Smith, who have both been shut down for the season. Tonight’s game tips off at 7:00PM.

The Chicago Cubs surrendered six runs in the top of the fourth during a 10-4 loss to the Washington Nationals on Opening Day from Wrigley Field. Pete Crow-Armstrong drove in two runs in the losing effort, while Matthew Boyd was charged with the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in three-and-two-thirds innings. The 0-and-1 Cubs take on the Nats again tomorrow. The Chicago Cubs are locking down one of their top players. The team signed second baseman Nico Hoerner to a six-year contract extension yesterday. Hoerner is in his eighth season with the Northsiders, and he’s won two Gold Gloves during his time with the team. He hit .297 with seven home runs and 61 RBI’s in 156 games last season.

The Cardinals opened the season with a 9-7 win over the Rays in St. Louis. JJ Wetherholt went deep with a solo shot, and Alec Burleson slugged a two-run bomb for the Cards. Nolan Gorman and Nathan Church also drove in two runs apiece. Riley O’Brien picked up the win in relief. St. Louis is tied for the lead in the NL Central. The Cardinals return to action with a game against the Rays tomorrow.

Shane Smith was charged with the loss after surrendering three earned runs and one unearned run on three hits in one-and-two-thirds innings. Chase Meidroth and Munetaka Murakami both homered in the losing effort. The Southsiders take on the Brewers again tomorrow night.

Third-seeded Illinois led most of the way and took down second-seeded Houston 65-55 in the Sweet 16 at the Toyota Center. David Mirkovic paced the Fighting Illini with 14 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Keaton Wagler posted a double-double of his own with 13 points and 12 boards. Illinois will now battle ninth-seeded Iowa in the Elite Eight tomorrow.

The suit claims his parents converted a “sizable amount” of money for their own personal use while managing several financial accounts. Bohm signed a one-year deal worth just over 10-million dollars in the offseason.

Paul Skenes got yanked after throwing 37 pitches and recording just two outs.

Out West, Number-2 Purdue edged 11th-seeded Texas 79-77 in its Sweet Sixteen matchup while Number-1 Arizona blew out fourth-ranked Arkansas 109-88 to advance. Sweet Sixteen action finishes on Friday with four more games.

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Battlehawks open up the 2026 regular season when they host the DC Defenders at The Dome at America’s Center tomorrow. St. Louis went 8-and-2 last season before losing to the Defenders in the Conference Finals in June. Tomorrow’s game gets started at 11:00AM.

(Charlotte, NC) — The Hornets came out victorious after topping the Knicks 114-103 in Charlotte. Kon Knueppel led the Hornets in scoring with 26 points. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks in scoring with 26 points. He also dished out a game-high 13 assists for a double-double. New York’s winning streak is over after seven games.

(Baton Rouge, LA) — LSU is bringing back a familiar face to lead its men’s basketball team. The school announced that it is hiring Will Wade to be the next head coach of the Tigers. Wade will be leaving NC State to return to the program that he coached from 2017 to 2022. He had been suspended as Tigers’ coach for the 2019 NCAA tournament and was later fired amid an NCAA probe that left the program with serious sanctions. LSU will have to pay NC State a buyout of four-million-dollars to bring Wade back to Baton Rouge.
