The Fortney Methodist Church, a historic landmark situated north of Grayville between Grayville and Browns, is on the market. The original church was constructed in the 1800s and rebuilt in the early 1950s after a fire.
The property, managed by Integrity Realty and Auction Service of Albion, offers 2,200 square feet of space, a full basement, kitchen, and two half baths on a 0.75-acre lot. Bidding opened March 21st and will close April 4th.
After declining attendance led to its closure more than a decade ago, the church was sold for $1 to a local non-denominational congregation. As that church’s membership grew, they eventually relocated to a larger facility in Browns, leaving the Fortney church building vacant.
