The Wayne County Arts Alliance is set to spotlight the creative talents of local youth with a fine art competition and exhibition for high school and college students. The event will take place on Saturday, May 2nd at Bob Boyles Hall, Frontier Community College in Fairfield, Illinois. Artwork will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free, and refreshments will be available. Student artists ages 14 to 25, living in or attending school in and around Wayne County, are invited to submit up to three original pieces created within the last three years. There is no entry fee. Acceptable media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, clay, glass, fiber, wood, metal, and digital art. All work must be original, suitable for family viewing, and professionally presented. Work copied from published artwork or photographs, assembled from kits, prints of original pieces, or work deemed inappropriate will not be accepted. All 2D and wall-mounted pieces must be ready to hang with a braded wire or sturdy support. To enter, students must submit an application form along with digital images (JPEG or TIFF) of their artwork by Monday, April 20th. Digital files should be labeled with the artist’s last name and entry number. Accepted artists will be notified by April 27th. Submissions can be made through Google Forms, email, or text. Cash prizes will be awarded in various categories, including a Best in Show honor. The Wayne County Arts Alliance encourages all eligible students to participate and showcase their artistic abilities to the community.
