HIGH SCHOOL TRACK:
On Tuesday, the FCHS Mules and Lady Mules were in action at the Train Yard Track in a quad meet versus Flora, Cisne, Hamilton County. Both the Mules and Lady Mules squads finished 1st overall. Notable performances for Fairfield were: Skylar Bladel-1st 800m; Treyton Lewis-1st 1600m; Ashton King-1st 3200m; Cayson Webb-1st High Jump; Remi Taylor-1st 400m, 1st Pole Vault; Emeri Sager-1st 800m, 1st 1600m; Emily Vaughan-1st 110m Hurdles, 1st 300m Hurdles, 1st Long Jump; Mahogany Langford-1st Shot Put; and Malori Simpson-1st Discus. Also, the Boys’ 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x800m and Girls’ 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x800m Relay teams all finished 1st.
For Cisne: Brody Bowles finished 2nd in the 400m and Ashtyn Smith finished 2nd in the 100m and 2nd in Triple Jump.

Jordan Hicks was charged with the loss after allowing two of those runs in the frame. Lenyn Sosa and Chase Meidroth both drove in a run in the losing effort. The Southsiders dropped to 4-and-7. They send Sean Burke to the mound against Baltimore this afternoon.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs will be without one of their top pitchers for the rest of the 2026 season. Manager Craig Counsell told reporters Tuesday that Cade Horton will have season-ending surgery for a damaged UCL. Horton will have either Tommy John reconstruction or an internal brace repair. Horton was the runner-up in the NL Rookie of the Year voting last season. He was 1-and-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts this year.

(Undated) — The Astros will be without the leading member of their starting rotation for the foreseeable future. Houston ace Hunter Brown will be kept from throwing for a few weeks after being diagnosed with a Grade Two right shoulder strain. Astros manager Joe Espada said that Brown will be re-evaluated in two weeks after the right-hander reported shoulder discomfort during a routine throwing session lat Friday. The 27-year-old is 1-and-0 with a 0.84 ERA and 17 strikeouts through two starts this season.

(Frisco, TX) — The St. Louis Battlehawks fell back to .500 with a 31-15 loss to the Dallas Renegades at Toyota Stadium. The Battlehawks trailed 24-6 in the fourth quarter and weren’t able to get back into the game. Brandon Silvers passed for 186 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the losing effort. St. Louis dropped to 1-and-1. The Hawks host Birmingham this Sunday.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence the Second did not show for the first day of the team’s offseason program. Head coach John Harbaugh remained optimistic during Tuesday’s video call with reporters that the situation will be settled. Lawrence has been hoping for a new deal from the Giants for the past two offseasons and has since requested a trade. The likely return in a deal would be a late first round pick, or second round and more.

According to ESPN, former Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is choosing to spend his draft experience with family in Miami. The expectation is for the Las Vegas Raiders to select the reigning Heisman Trophy winning national champion with the number one pick. This year’s draft is being held in Pittsburgh starting on April 23rd.

(Atlanta, GA) — A key player on the Falcons offense is joining the team for voluntary practice. NFL Network reports Kyle Pitts signed the franchise tag on Tuesday and reported for the team’s first offseason workout. The tight end will make just over 15-million dollars this upcoming season. However, Atlanta can still negotiate a long-term deal with Pitts until July 15th. The 25-year-old had almost 90 catches last year.

(Boulder, CO) — Colorado quarterback Dominiq Ponder has a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit when he died in a single-car crash near Boulder last month. The 23-year-old was killed early on March 1st when he lost control on a curve and hit a guardrail before rolling down an embankment. According to the autopsy report, Ponder’s blood alcohol level was .167 at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple blunt force injuries.
