The Wayne County Coroner’s Office is investigating two deaths reported over the weekend.
On Friday, the Coroner’s Office responded to the death of a senior citizen male. The case is currently under investigation by Fairfield City Police, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit and the Wayne County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy has been performed, and officials are awaiting toxicology results.
A second death occurred Saturday, involving a senior citizen male found deceased at home while alone. Coroner, Shari Winter stated that no further investigation is anticipated in this case.
