The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has issued an updated schedule for the planned closure of I-57. The interstate closure, originally set for tonight (Monday, April 13th) will now begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 20th, weather permitting. All lanes are expected to reopen by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st.
During this time, I-57 will be closed in both directions between exit 65 (West Frankfort) and exit 59 (Johnston City) to allow crews to safely install structural beams for the bridge carrying Stiritz Road over the interstate. Northbound and southbound traffic will be detoured to Illinois 37 between exit 59 and exit 65.
Motorists traveling in Williamson and Franklin counties should plan for alternate routes and expect delays during this period. For additional details and updates, visit http://prez.ly/tbAd.
