White County Sheriff’s Department served an arrest warrant Friday evening in Mill Shoals, taking 53-year-old Justin Downen of Fairfield into custody. Downen spent the weekend in the White County Jail before being released following a court appearance Monday morning.

The warrant stemmed from Downen’s failure to appear in court on February 3rd and March 3rd in connection with a January arrest on charges of Improper Use of Registration/Title and driving without functioning stop lights.

During Monday’s court proceedings, the traffic infraction for driving without functioning taillights was dismissed. The court withheld judgment on the Improper Use of Registration/Title charge, instead placing Downen on one year of supervision and ordering him to pay a fine.

Downen was released from custody after the hearing.
