On Wednesday both the Mules Boys and Lady Mules Track teams were in action at the Matt Scherer Invitational at Red Hill. The Mules Boys team finished 1st overall, as did the Lady Mules team. Notable performances for the Mules Boys were: Justin Johnson – 1st in 400m, 1st in Triple Jump, and 2nd in 100m; Skylar Bladel – 1st in 800m; Kanyon Lingafelter – 2nd in 800m; Treyton Lewis – 1st in 1600m; Ashton King – 1st in 3200m and 2nd 1600m; Braxton Galiher – 2nd in 110m Hurdles; Jayden Wilson – 2nd in Shot Put; Aiden King – 2nd in Discus; and Cayson Webb – 2nd in High Jump.
Notable performances for the Lady Mules were: Wren Braddock – 1st in 100m and 2nd in High Jump; Remi Taylor – 1st in 400m and 2nd in 100m; Emeri Sager – 1st in 800m and 1st in 1600m; Emily Vaughan – 1st 110m Hurdles, 1st in 300m Hurdles, and 2nd in Long Jump; Mahogany Langford – 1st in Shot Put; Macie Edwards – 2nd in Discus; and Jensyn Robbins – 1st in Triple Jump

JR HIGH TRACK:
On Wednesday, the Fairfield, Jasper, and New Hope Track teams were in action at the FCHS Train Yard Track, however the weather did shorten the event. With the events that did get completed, on the Boys side Jasper finished 1st, Fairfield – 2nd, and New Hope – 3rd. For the Girls, Fairfield finished 1st followed by New Hope in 2nd and Jasper 3rd.

The Chicago Cubs destroyed the Phillies for the second day in a row, earning an 11-2 win from Philadelphia. Nico Hoerner led the offense with a two-run homer and finished with five RBIs. Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong drove-in a pair of runs as Chicago claimed the three-game series. Shota Imanaga earned his first win after striking out 11 and allowing just one run on three hits in six innings. The 9-and-9 Northsiders host the Mets tomorrow.

The St. Louis Cardinals took the rubber match of their series against the Cleveland Guardians 5-3 at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Alec Burleson drove in a pair of runs in the victory, while Dustin May earned the win after allowing just one run on six hits in six innings. St. Louis improved to 10-and-8. The Cardinals visit Houston tomorrow.

The Chicago Blackhawks wrapped up their 2025-26 season with a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks at United Center. Louis Crevier tied the game at two early in the third period before Ryan Greene knocked in the go-ahead goal five minutes later. Crevier scored twice in the victory, while Sam Rinzel and Nick Lardis also lit the lamp. Chicago finished the year in last place in the Central Division with 72 points. In other team news, the Blackhawks extended general manager Kyle Davidson’s contract yesterday.

The winner will square off against top-seeded Detroit. Out West, the Warriors took down the Clippers 126-121 from Los Angeles. Golden State will visit Phoenix on Friday with the winner advancing to a matchup against Number-1 Oklahoma City in the First Round.

(Undated) — Hornets guard LaMelo Ball has been fined a total of 60-thousand-dollars by the NBA. The league announced Wednesday that Ball was fined 35-thousand-dollars and assessed a Flagrant Foul Two for “unnecessary and reckless contact” against Bam Adebayo. Ball was also fined an additional 25-thousand-dollars for using profane language during a live TV interview. Charlotte will visit the Orlando Magic in a battle for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference on Friday.

(Miami, FL) — The Dolphins are still steadfast in keeping their best offensive player. General manager Jon-Eric Sullivan told the media on Wednesday that De’Von Achane [[ AY-chan ]] is “not available” in trade talks. He made the same point during the NFL’s league meeting last month despite the team trading away Number-1 wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos.

(Undated) — The NFL is taking steps to replace its officials. In a memo from the league’s senior vice president of officiating, the NFL has started to onboard potential replacement officials as the expiration of its CBA with the NFL Referees Association approaches. “Several” replacements have completed background checks with league security and they will soon be given physical examinations. The CBA between the sides expires on May 31st.

(Undated) — The Rockies will be without a member of their starting rotation for the foreseeable future. Colorado has placed left-hander Kyle Freeland on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his throwing shoulder. The move is retroactive to Monday and comes after he was scratched from his last scheduled start due to shoulder soreness. The 32-year-old is 1-and-1 with a 2.30 ERA through three starts this season. The team reinstated southpaw Jose Quintana from the IL to take Freeland’s roster spot.

(Cincinnati, OH) — The Reds are dodging a major injury bullet to an important bullpen piece. Emilio Pagan was able to play catch on Wednesday after suffering a hamstring injury the day before. ESPN is reporting that chief operating officer Xavier James and head of human resources Michael O’Neill have been fired with cause following an internal investigation players commissioned in the wake of a federal investigation into alleged financial improprieties at the union. While the reason for the firings remain unclear, the attorney conducting the internal investigation has delivered a report to the MLBPA covering recent findings. Chris Capuano will take over as the new COO, while Ian Penny was named interim chief HR officer.

(Hilton Head Island, SC) — Justin Thomas will be looking to defend his title at the RBC Heritage. Thomas won last year’s tournament after taking down Andrew Novak in a one-hole playoff.
