The Wayne County Republican Party held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday in the basement of the Wayne County Courthouse. The meeting was called to order by Liz Ann Woodrow, with members Ronnie Woodrow, Yvette Anderson, Billie Jo Townsend, Marvin Cole, Daryl Hargrave, and Janet Billington present.

The group reviewed and unanimously approved the treasurer’s report, presented by Yvette Anderson.

During the meeting, the committee voted to donate $1,000 to Darren Bailey’s campaign for Governor and $250 to Don Tracy’s campaign for U.S. Senate. Both motions, made by Daryl Hargrave and seconded by Marvin Cole, passed unanimously.

The party also reaffirmed its annual support of the Cisne Reunion, scheduled for August 5th – 8th. Members approved the purchase of a full-page ad in the program book and will participate in the event by setting up a booth in the park.

With Ellen Sitzes appointed by the Wayne County Board to fill the first half of the circuit clerk term left vacant by Georgiana Fletcher’s resignation, the committee voted to place Sitzes on the ballot as the Republican candidate for the two-year unexpired term in the upcoming general election.

The next meeting of the Wayne County Republican Party is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th at 6 p.m. in the courthouse basement.
